July 4, 2001 - For many, the Fourth of July offers time to relax, celebrations with friends and an amazing sound and light show. But for nearly fifteen-hundred Minnesotans who became citizens last week, the holiday marks their NEW independence. Last Wednesday, U-S Magistrate Judge John Mason presided over the state's largest one-day citizenship ceremony. Here are the voices of some of Minnesota's newest Americans representing 112 countries.
July 4, 2001 - The conflict in the Middle East continues with hundreds dead and real peace as elusive as ever. About 40 percent fewer students and tourists visited the region in the past year. Still, some Minnesotans continue to travel to Israel. Some are traveling on one-way tickets. Minnesota Public Radio's Kaomi Goetz has this report.
