October 17, 2003 - Tomorrow, October 18th marks the 115th Anniversary of the founding of the University of Minnesota Agriculture School, now known simply as the St. Paul Campus my home. Prior to this, the property was known as the university farm, but formal teaching of agriculture began on this date in 1888 with a class of 47 students. The campus is now home to the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences; College of Natural Resources, College of Human Ecology, College of Biological Sciences, and College of Veterinary Medicine.

October 10, 2003 - University of Minnesota and other law enforcement officials are preparing for possible trouble after the big Minnesota-Michigan football game tonight. A recent riot after a football a game at Minnesota State University in Mankato has raised concerns about celebrations getting out of hand. About 60-thousand people are expected at tonight's game, in which the undefeated Gophers will take on the Michigan Wolverines, a team they haven't beaten since 1986. But the Gophers are favored this year. They are ranked 17th in this week's AP poll, and have their eyes on the Big Ten title, something they haven't taken since 1967. Eric Dyer (DIE er) is the undergraduate student body president at the U of M. He says students aren't worried about other students getting out of control.
October 3, 2003 - The Minneapolis chapter of the NAACP has become good at one thing steady self-destruction. Last weekend, the Rev. Albert Gallmon became the latest in a long line of distinguished, well-intended people chewed up by a small group of people in a once-meaningful organization. Gallmon, who became president of the Minneapolis branch in December, fell on his sword with grace in announcing that he was stepping down from the position.
September 26, 2003 - With just four days left in September, how can we characterize the month's weather Most places have reported warmer than normal conditions, with average monthly temperatures from 1 to 3 degrees greater than the historical average. The highest temperature in the state was 97 degrees F at Browns Valley on the 6th, while the lowest was 27 degrees F at Embarrass on the 16th. However it appears even colder air may affect the state on the 29th and 30th.
September 25, 2003 - One student is dead and another critically injured this morning after a shooting at a school in central Minnesota. Authorities say a freshman boy opened fire yesterday at Rocori High School in Cold Spring. They say the teacher, who's also a coach, convinced the student who allegedly fired the shots to lay down his handgun. Charlie Kyte is the Executive Director of the Minnesota Association of School Administrators. He's on the line now.
September 25, 2003 - MPR’s Cathy Wurzer interviews Susan Crumb, a community prosecutor in Brooklyn Park. The Hennepin County Attorney's Office hosting a two-day national meeting on Thursday-Friday, September 25-26, with focus on "community prosecution." In 1999, Hennepin County Attorney Amy Klobuchar initiated this new approach to crime-fighting. This approach is based on a closer working relationship between prosecutors and the local neighborhoods and communities where crime is occurring. Prosecutors are assigned to work with police, local residents, businesses and others in a specific geographic area to develop strategies for preventing and prosecuting crime, as well as to identify appropriate consequences for those who break the law.
