February 11, 2002 - The State Senate will vote today on a plan to fix Minnesota's nearly two billion dollar projected budget shortfall. Like the House Republican plan, the proposal does not raise taxes. But the plan's spending cuts of 200 million dollars a year are less than half the amount proposed by the House. Laura McCallum is Minnesota Public Radio's capitol bureau chief, and she's on the line now.

February 8, 2002 - The 2002 Winter Olympic Games get underway with the Opening Ceremonies tonight in Salt Lake City. Speedskater Amy Peterson of Maplewood will carry the flag for the United States team. She is one of a number of Minnesota athletes hoping to win a medal at the Games. MPR Sports Commentator and longtime Olympic observer Jay Weiner is in Salt Lake City to cover the Games and he joins us now. That's MPR Sports Commentator Jay Weiner. These are also the coldest temperatures of the winter reported anywhere in Minnesota.
February 6, 2002 - A bill that would bar telemarketers from calling people who put their phone numbers on a "do-not-call" list gets a hearing this morning at the Minnesota capitol. The bill would create a state-administered list of people who don't want telemarketers to contact them. DFL representative Matt Entenza of St. Paul is the lead sponsor, and he's on the line now.
