August 11, 2005 - In 1964, legendary radio host and oral historian Studs Terkel brought a young, virtually unknown songwriter from Hibbing into the studios at WFMT Chicago... That interview with a young Bob Dylan is one of dozens Studs Terkel has transcribed for a new collection of conversations about music he recorded over more than forty years. The book includes Terkel's interviews with classical conductors, opera divas, blues legends, folk musicians and many others.
July 6, 2005 - A group of more than 6-thousand Hmong people in Thailand is reportedly without food or shelter today after the Thai government forced them from temporary homes. The group had apparently built shelters on the land of sympathetic landowners in Thailand's remote Phetchabun (PET-cha-bahn) province. The government says they are illegal immigrants from neighboring Laos and is trying to force them to return to that country. The displaced Hmong are appealing to the United Nations for Help. Joung-Ah Ghadini (Jong-ah Gah-DEE-nee, a spokeswoman for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees says her organization is trying to gain access to the group of 6,000 Hmong.

April 21, 2005 - Minnesota is surging ahead of its neighbors in population growth. A new U.S. Census report predicts that by 2030, Minnesota will grow by 1.3 million people and surpass Wisconsin as the upper Midwest's population leader.
April 20, 2005 - All Things Considered’s Tom Crann interviews Rick Linsk, reporter at the St. Paul Pioneer Press, about Vang Pao Foundation. The non-profit foundation named for General Vang Pao, a leader in the Hmong community, faces a law suit from the office of State Attorney General Mike Hatch. The suit alleges that the Vang Pao Foundation engaged in questionable spending, and bypassed state charity laws.
