December 5, 1974 - In mid-November there was a unique program offered to the public by the University of Minnesota office of student affairs and the fund for suicide studies. A full day of lectures, panels, and films surveyed the problem of suicide among young adults and the campus population. Connie Goldman attended and prepared this midday program. November 29, 1974 - Lewis Janson explains what public accountability means to the Minnesota State Arts Council. He says it means serving constituents in the best way it can, with as little delay as possible, and being ready to engage in a dialogue on any subject or issue. Public accountability is shown when people are satisfied with services they?ve received. While artists and the public are encouraged to attend open meetings and provide input, good management knows its constituents and their needs.
November 28, 1974 - Louis Janson, Lonnie Kawamura and John Ondov, of the Minnesota State Arts Council, discuss how the council would administer and manage potential funding from the Legislature of three and a half million dollars. They recommend creating a system of seven regional offices across the state with the major thrust being to serve outstate communities. They justify the administrative expenses by saying a structure is needed to get the funds to the local artists, and full-time staff is needed rather than relying on volunteer help.
November 27, 1974 - The “future of public television” was the discussion for a conference held at Spring Hill Conference Center in Wayzata, Minnesota. Three highlighted speakers were Henry Loomis, Chairman of the Board of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting; Ralph Rogers, Board Chairman of PBS; and Glen Robinson, former University of Minnesota Law Professor, now with the FCC.
November 12, 1974 - Discussion by Dr. H.P.L. Presnick at Youthful Suicide Seminar at the U of M as to the lack of proper follow up care for those hospitalized for attempted suicide. Includes a exploration into when and how to intervene in said situations, and how privacy rights make proper study and/or intervention difficult.
November 8, 1974 - Discussion of workshop held in Wayzata, Minnesota intended to examine the role of Public Television. Essentially, what public television is, was, and where it is going. Keynote speaker Bill Moyers discusses public television's role and how it must change to fulfill its mission.
November 8, 1974 - Connie Goldman attended a workshop of welfare workers, social service agencies and law enforcement personnel on the topic of incest. Goldman collected interviews from various members of workshop, and a speech from Dr. John Brantner of the Division of Health Care Psychology at the University of Minnesota Hospitals.
October 16, 1974 - "Projected Images" was an exhibition held at Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, showcasing works by six artists who used film making, audio and video techniques in their art. Connie Goldman spent some time with artist Robert Whitman, where he gave insight into his work at exhibition.
