Ventura campaigned for Bill Schulter, a Republican state senator, who is running as a New Jersey gubernatorial candidate as an Independent.
August 23, 2001 - One of the new exhibits at the State Fair is the Miracle of Birth Center. Eight cows, 12 sows, and 16 ewes are set to give birth, while fairgoers watch. It's a kind of animal maternity ward. Dr. Mary Olson, a vet, says timing the births to coincide with the fair is a little tricky.

August 17, 2001 - With an upcoming KKK rally scheduled to happen in Minneapolis/ St.Paul, Mark Potok, of Klanwatch at the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery Alabama, discusses current status of the KKK in the United States. Potok states that he does not see much activity in Minnesota. He also presents recommendations on how to counter event and hate group activity.

August 6, 2001 - Morning Edition’s Cathy Wurzer talks with Kow Lee, a 29-year-old Hmong woman, about time limits attached to welfare and struggles for finding employment. Lee came to the U.S. 10 years ago, is divorced, and has 7 children ranging from ages 4 months to 9 years old. Speaking through an interpreter, Kow Lee says raising children in America is very hard.
August 1, 2001 - The Minnesota Vikings say offensive tackle Kory Stringer has died at training camp after suffering complications from heat stroke. Stringer was taken to a Mankato hospital after practice yesterday. The team says when he arrived, he wasn't responsive and had a temperature of 108 degrees after practicing in the oppresive heat and humidity. His condition deteroirated throughout the day yesterday. Stringer developed multiple organ failure and just before two this morning his heart stopped. Our Vikings analyst Sean Jensen is in Mankato. Sean covers the Vikings for the St.Paul Pioneer Press. We just got off the phone with Sean, who was at the hospital until the wee hours of this morning.
July 11, 2001 - Patients with congestive heart faliure may be interested in news that a kind of treatment has been developed by Fridley-based Medtronic. The device, which has receive preliminary FDA approval, is about the size of half a dollar, and it's surgically implanted in patients, much in the same manner as a pacemaker. Dr. Jay Cohn, at the U of M Medical School, says the device, called In-Sync, appears to be a big step forward for patients who have congestive heart faliure.
