February 5, 2002 - There are more Somalis in Minnesota, than any other African immigrant group. Like nearly all newcomers to America, Somalis have faced racial and ethnic discrimination in their new surroundings. That reality comes as no surprise to African Americans who have experienced racism all their lives. But clashes between Somalis and African Americans caught both communities off guard and was particularly troubling to those who feel the two groups have much in common. Now, groups of Somalis and African Americans are coming together to bridge cultural differences. Minnesota Public Radio's Brandt Williams has the second report in our series on the relationship between Africans and African Americans.

January 23, 2002 - A report entitled All Kids Count, shows that African American, American Indian, Asian American, and Latino youth in Minnesota are much more likely than white children to experience violence, live without health care insurance, and live in poverty. The report was compiled by the Children's Defense Fund and Minnesota Kids Count, a research organization that releases reports on the welfare of the state's youth.
January 10, 2002 - Mike Tice is the interim head coach for the Minnesota Vikings' head coach for their last game. Dennis Green, the previous head coach, was let go last week.

January 3, 2002 - A ruptured water main sent about 55 thousand gallons of water through the offices of the Guthrie Theater last night. Theater officials don't know what caused the pipe to burst or how much monetary damage was caused. However, they say the flood will not delay the start of its next production.
