June 21, 2001 - St. Paul based Lawson Software is preparing to go public, despite a dramatic decline in initial stock offerings of late. The privately held software company outlined its plans in a regulatory filing. Minnesota Public Radio's Bill Catlin reports.
June 13, 2001 - Drawn out negotiations between General Electric and European anti-trust regulators over GE's plan to buy Honeywell International are raising questions about whether the deal will go though. Combined, the two companies employ some 8 thousand in Minnesota. With GE facing a deadline tomorrow, the regulatory process has dragged on longer and involved tougher negotiations than many expected. Now, some controversial new research from Carnegie-Mellon University suggests cities that want to promote high tech industry should make themselves attractive to gay men.

May 8, 2001 - A string of layoffs by Minnesota companies like 3M, ADC Telecommunications, and a host of smaller firms tell the tale -- the state's job market is softening. Initial claims for unemployent insurance in Minnesota through most of April soared by 67 percent compared to the same period last year. And though unemployment remains low, state officials expect it to rise. People looking for a new job will tell you it's harder than they expected. Minnesota Public Radio's Bill Catlin spoke to three people laid off recently and has this profile.
