September 28, 2001 - MPR’s Mark Zdechlik reports that visitors to the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport will soon see Minnesota National Guard troops helping with any number of security jobs. President Bush has called on the nation's governor's to deploy national guard troops at airports through the country.
September 28, 2001 - MPR's Elizabeth Stawicki reports that The National Center for State Courts (CHIPS), a non-profit organization which conducts research and educates courts on how to improve the administration of justice, has found opening child protection hearings and records to the public has had virtually no major effects in Minnesota…negative or positive. CHIPS studied the effects in the 12 Minnesota counties that took part in the three-year pilot project.
September 28, 2001 - MPR's Bill Catlin reports that a federal district court in Minneapolis has appointed a trustee to represent the clients of financially struggling Stockwalk Group. The action comes as the third largest Twin Cities brokerage has had to freeze 190,000 customer accounts and is looking for a partner or buyer.
October 1, 2001 - ctress Jessica Lange and playwright Sam Shepard will host a special concert next month to raise money to help build a monastery and cultural center for Minnesota's Tibetan community. The November 12th event will include performances by musicians Jackson Browne, Greg Brown, T. Bone Burnett, Sam Phillips and Guy Davis. Writers Louise Erdrich and Richard Ford will also participate. Lange says she has been interested in the study of Buddhism for a long time and has studied with local monks. She says after bouncing around from one classroom to another, she decided to help the monks find a permanent home.
October 2, 2001 - All Things Considered’s Lorna Benson talks with reporter Tom Scheck about Governor Ventura’s visit to New York City to meet with bond officials and pay respects at the World Trade Center site, where Ventura and wife Terry delivered 9,000 cards from Minnesota to the relief workers at the World Trade Center.
October 3, 2001 - MPR’s Tom Scheck reports on Governor Ventura’s visit to New York City to show Americans can come to New York after the September 11th attacks. During his visit, Ventura met with a bond rating agency and toured the area of the World Trade Center disaster, where he handed out memorial cards written by Minnesotans to relief workers.
October 3, 2001 - Governor Ventura and his wife Terry appeared on Good Morning America. He went to deliver cards from Minnesotans and to see the World Trade Center site. Rumors that ABC also paid for his trip to have exclusive access to the site is not verified. Because of the accusation, Ventura now will no longer give interviews to the Minnesota press.
October 4, 2001 - MPR’s Elizabeth Stawicki reports on Minnesota Supreme considering fairness of jurors asking questions during trial. Typically, attorneys question witnesses during trials in Minnesota. But in Blue Earth County two years ago, a Mankato judge invited jurors to question the witnesses and even the man on trial. The State Supreme Court heard arguments about whether allowing jurors to ask questions violates a defendant's right to a fair trial.

October 5, 2001 - At the end of the first week of Minnesota's largest state employee strike, no new talks are scheduled and neither side shows any sign of movement. State officials say state government is weathering the loss of about 23,000 workers, and Governor Ventura says the striking workers should accept the state's offer and come back to work. Ventura says will talk to the strikers, but he will not do it when the media is around.
