December 1, 1999 - Governor Jesse Ventura addresses the Minnesota Meeting. Ventura's spseech was about his support for a unicameral legislature and answer questions from the Minnesota audience and a national Internet audience. Minnesota Meeting is a non-profit corporation which hosts a wide range of public speakers. It is managed by the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
December 2, 1999 - Special Live broadcast from the University of St. Thomas in downtown Minneapolis: The MPR Civic Journalism Initiative presents a Summit on "Minnesota in the Dot.Com Age." December 6, 1999 - The Immigration and Naturalization Service has issued an order of deportation to a Minneapolis business-owner who pioneered neighborhood revitalization efforts on Minneapolis ' East Lake Street. Because of her work there, community organizers, church leaders and business owners are asking the Immigration Board to reverse its decision. If the deportation order is not rescinded, she and her family have to leave the country by December 7th, or face arrest.
December 6, 1999 - Its been five months since the first wave of Kosovar refugees arrived in the US Many ended up in the Red Valley spread arond the Fargo Moorhead area. Now with a somewhat rockey peace established in their homeland the refugees have the opportunity to return. However as Minnesota Public Radio's Dan Gunderson reports, most want to stay.
December 7, 1999 - The Minnesota State Board of Education officially disolves at the end of the month after 80 years of shaping public school policies. The nine-member citizen panel holds its final regular meeting today, and as Minnesota Public Radio's Tim Pugmire reports the board is not leaving quietly.

December 8, 1999 - Layoffs at four of IBM's US plants were announced today....including nearly 150 workers at the company's Rochester plant. Nation-wide about three percent of workers in IBM's business computer section have been laid off. Company officials say the cutbacks are at the low end in terms of expected numbers.
