June 20, 1991 - Marian Wright Edelman, president and Founder of the Children's Defense Fund in Washington, D.C., giving commencement address at Hamline University in St. Paul. Edelman’s speech was titled "The Struggle for America's Conscience and Future.” She told the Hamline graduates that we are a morally lost nation, and that we must redefine national security. Marian Wright Edelman is a graduate of Spelman College and the Yale University Law School. In the mid-1960's she was the first black woman admitted to the Mississippi bar; she later directed a regional office of the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund.
June 28, 1991 - MPR’s profiles Choua Lee, a Hmong woman running for the St. Paul School Board. Lee says her main concerns are minority students, in particular the grouping of these students into separate tracks in curriculum. She also sees the need for Hmong parents to be more active greater community decisions.

July 4, 1991 - John Marty, Minnesota state senator representing District 40, expresses his anger over investigation results of Frank Gallegos, commissioner of Human Rights in Minnesota. Misuse of alcohol and questionable jokes by Gallegos at an event have come under question.
July 5, 1991 - U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone comments on state of United Nations Security Council discussions since cease-fire. Wellstone shares concerns of Iraq nuclear status and humanitarian crisis after Persian Gulf War.
