January 2, 2007 - In two days Democrat Amy Klobuchar will be sworn into the Senate and fellow DFL-er Mark Dayton will return to private life. Six years ago Dayton spent nearly $12 million of his own fortune to get elected to the Senate, where he had hoped he could improve life for regular Americans. But he leaves Washington frustrated and disappointed. MPR's Mark Zdechlik reports on Dayton’s tenure.

To hear how some of them feel about the U.S. airstrikes in their home country, Minnesota Public Radio News reporter Toni Randolph visited the Karmel Mall on Pillsbury Ave near Lake Street. We'll hear from four Somalis who weighed in on the issue.
January 11, 2007 - A day after Senate Democrats touted their plan to cover to more uninsured Minnesotans, Governor Pawlenty unveiled his health care agenda for the session. January 23, 2007 - Governor Pawlenty says tax relief, especially property tax relief, is one of the main priorities in his two-year budget proposal. Pawlenty released his 34.4 billion dollar budget blueprint yesterday . He wants to devote $281 million dollars to tax relief over two years. More than half of that money would be used to put the brakes on rising property tax rates. Both Democrats and Republicans say the governor's plan falls short. Minnesota Public Radio's Tom Scheck reports.
