April 2, 2004 - Somali leaders appeared at the State Capitol Thursday to announce the formation of a statewide Somali leadership council. The council is being touted by Somalis and government officials alike as a way to bridge communication gaps between Somalis and the broader community.
April 2, 2004 - Metro Transit is reportedly asking the federal government if it can change the opening of the Hiawatha Light Rail Line until A YEAR from now. Partial Rail service was scheduled to begin tomorrow, but has been delayed by the Metro Transit bus strike. Light rail train drivers are members of the bus drivers union. The Star Tribune reports this morning that Metro Transit wants the Federal Transit Administration to move the opening to next April. Metropolitan Council chairman Peter Bell says that's not true...

April 5, 2004 - Republican women who hold statewide office and serve in the Legislature today (MONDAY) urged Senate Democrats to confirm two of Governor Pawlenty's commissioners. They say Senate DFLers are playing politics with the confirmations of Lieutenant Governor and Transportation Commissioner Carol Molnau, and Education Commissioner Cheri Pierson Yecke. There's a plan to bring back STREETCARS that would connect Lake Calhoun with the Mississippi River. April 7, 2004 - Morning Edition’s Cathy Wurzer interviews Republican Representative Marty Siefert about legislation that would require drivers license tests be given only in English. The change was proposed as an amendment to a larger transportation bill. Currently, the written portion of the Minnesota drivers license exam is given in several languages, including Hmong, Somali, and Spanish.
April 18, 2004 - Mainstreet Radio’s Dan Gunderson reports that searchers found the body of Dru Sjodin in a ditch northwest of Crookston on Saturday, April 17th 2004. The 22-year-old University of North Dakota Student had been missing since November 2003. Police believe she was taken from a Grand Forks mall parking lot by a convicted sex offender.
