March 1, 2009 - Funeral arrangements are in the works for Minnesota author Bill Holm. Holm died last week at age 65. He was born on a farm in Northern Minnesota and taught English at Southwest Minnesota State University for 27 years before retiring in 2007. Longtime friend and pastor Stephen Rasmusson says they expect overflow crowds. Organizers are working on a way to broadcast the ceremony remotely for those who cannot fit into the small church.
March 2, 2009 - Lawmakers at the Minnesota Capitol continue to work on the state budget, trying to solve a projected $4.8 billion deficit. Gov. Tim Pawlenty has said he expects the hole to get even bigger when a new forecast is released this week. Former Republican Gov. Al Quie and former DFL Sen. Majority Leader Roger Moe offer advice on how to deal with that deficit.

March 5, 2009 - Barbara Brown Taylor is an Episcopal priest, teacher, and author. She is widely recognized as one of America's most eloquent preachers. Ordained an Episcopal priest in 1984, she holds the Harry R. Butman Chair in Religion and Philosophy at Piedmont College in Georgia and is adjunct professor of Christian spirituality at Columbia Theological Seminary. She is the author of twelve books on faith and spirituality, including "Leaving Church" and "An Altar in the World." She lectures on preaching at Yale, Princeton, and Duke Universities and is a regular columnist for The Christian Century. She spoke before an audience at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Her speech was titled, "Downtime: The Sacred Art of Stopping".
March 9, 2009 - The town of Minneota, the region and the world said goodbye to Bill Holm on Sunday. The funeral service in southwest Minnesota brought together hundreds of people. All of them touched in some way by the author, musician and teacher.

That's what actors from around our region are doing at the Jungle Theater in Minneapolis today. The Twin Cities Unified Theater Auditions bring together more than 40 producers representing theaters from Minnesota and beyond. They see auditions from hundreds of local actors. Each actor has just a minute and a half to make their best impression. The Unifieds got underway this weekend.
March 9, 2009 - Several hundred people attended funeral services for writer Bill Holm Sunday in Minneota. Holm lived most of his life in the small southwest Minnesota community. Minneota mayor Paul Larson says Holm touched many residents in town through his writing and community service.
March 9, 2009 - Some of the state's best high school poets competed for the state championship, with eighteen students from across the state took part in the 'Poetry Out Loud' contest. They were judged by a panel on seven criteria, including physical presence and level of difficulty. The champion, Thandisizwe Jackson-Nisan, was named after three rounds of poems.
March 9, 2009 - A bill before the legislature would require police in Minnesota to gather data aimed at halting racial profiling advocates say still occurs. The bill would require police to record the race of every person they pull over in traffic stops. The group responsible for police training say the change is not necessary.
