November 8, 2002 - The stage at the Pantages Theater in downtown Minneapolis will light up again tonight for the first show since the historic theater went dark in 1984. Backed by the city of Minneapolis, theater investors have restored much of the elaborate plaster detail of the building's original 1916 decor. Supporters say it's a hopeful step toward establishing a vibrant theater district on Hennepin Avenue.
November 11, 2002 - Veterans and the public gathered across the state today (MONDAY) to honor the men and women who served in the nation's armed forces. Two of Minnesota's incoming state political leaders say they'll make veteran's issues a priority in office. Senator-elect Norm Coleman and Governor-elect Tim Pawlenty spoke at a Veterans Day observance at the Minneapolis Veterans Home. November 12, 2002 - Vice President Dick Cheney swore-in Minnesota interim Senator Dean Barkley this afternoon on the floor of the Senate. Barkley's first Senate floor speech eulogized the man whose term he was appointed to fill - Senator Paul Wellstone. The senator died in a plane crash late last month. Republicans and Democrats spent much of the remainder of the day remembering Wellstone. Minnesota Public Radio's Mark Zdechlik is in Washington this week and joins me now. November 12, 2002 - Wendy Wasserstein wrote several such very popular plays, including "The Heidi Chronicles," which won both a Tony award and the Pulitzer Prize in the original play category. She was the first woman to win in that category. She's also taught at Columbia, Princeton, and New York University, and has been a contributing editor to numerous magazines including "Harper's Bazaar." A couple of weeks ago, Wendy Wasserstein spoke at the Adath Jeshurun Congregation in Minnetonka.
November 13, 2002 - As Congress and the White House move toward passage of a Homeland Security bill, Minnesota's interim Senator Dean Barkley says he plans to vote for something that the White House will support. Vice President Dick C sworn in Barkley on the floor of the Senate yesterday afternoon. Following that brief ceremony, Republican and Democratic Senators praised Wellstone for hours with eulogies.
November 14, 2002 - Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle was among those remembering Paul Wellstone, his wife and his daughter at a memorial service held at a Washington DC synagoguee last night.
