October 30, 2002 - Republican candidate Norm Coleman has re-launched his campaign for U.S. Senate. Coleman called off all campaign activities last Friday after Senator Paul Wellstone was killed in a plane crash. But today Coleman is flying around the state talking to voters in International Falls, Thief River Falls, and Owatonna. He spoke to supporters at the airport before leaving this morning.

The four major party candidates for governor say despite the turmoil in the Senate contest, they hope to keep the governor's race fresh in the minds of voters. October 30, 2002 - Governor Ventura says he was so upset by the partisan tone of last night's public eulogies for Paul Wellstone that he may appoint an independent to fill Wellstone's seat. Twenty-thousand people showed up at Williams Arena for a memorial service for Wellstone, his wife and daughter and three other campaign staffers, who died in a plane crash last Friday. While DFL'ers select a new candidate this evening, Republican Norm Coleman's campaign plane has just left St. Paul's Holman airfield for a fly around the state. Coleman's campaign swing, that includes International Falls, Thief River Falls and stops in Southern Minnesota. This comes as a new poll from the Star Tribune shows him behind Mondale by eight points.
