May 29, 2002 - MPR's Tom Scheck reports that the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission has delayed a vote on a proposed settlement that would keep the Minnesota Twins in the Metrodome through the 2003 season. In exchange, the commission would drop its lawsuit against the team and league. Commission members say they're committed to keeping the Twins in the state but say they want the settlement in writing before they vote.

June 3, 2002 - INTRO: This summer Minnesotans can expect to see and hear a lot of Republican Senate Candidate Norm Coleman and DFL incumbent Paul Wellstone as the two engage in a election contest that'll cost millions of dollars and COULD shift power from Democrats to Republicans in the US Senate. For Coleman support from voters in rural Minnesota could be critical. Polls have shown Coleman and Wellstone are running neck and neck statewide but that Wellstone enjoys a comfortable lead over Coleman in greater Minnesota. Not surprisingly, Coleman is campaigning aggressively outside the metro area, mixing farm policy with his broader campaign themes.

June 3, 2002 - TThe Guthrie Theater Board today voted to go ahead with preparations for its proposed 125-million dollar theater complex on the edge of downtown Minneapolis. But it delayed groundbreaking on the project until it has a guarantee of state bonding money. Governor Ventura stripped twenty-four million dollars earmarked for the Guthrie from the state bonding bill. The Guthrie and advocates for other projects vetoed by Ventura hope the legislature will pass a special bonding bill next year. Guthrie Artistic Director Joe Dowling says legislative interest in the project remains high.

June 5, 2002 - Morning Edition’s Cathy Wurzer talks with local sports analyst LaVelle Neal about Minnesota Twins game the previous night, where the team crushed the Cleveland Indians 23-2 at the Metrodome. It was the biggest margin of victory in team history. The Twins also set a team record by collecting 25 hits.
