August 21, 2001 - Mainstreet Radio's Mark Steil profiles the The Continental Co-ets, one of the first all-girl garage bands from the 1960’s. Steil interviews Co-et’s guitarist Carolyn Behr and drummer Vicki Steinmen. Others involved with band’s history also make comments.
August 22, 2001 - NTRO-- Minnesota Senator Paul Wellstone will be in Biwabik (bah WAH -- rhymes with ha -- bic, it's on the Range), Minnesota today to hold a round-table discussion about how technology and education can revitalize the rural economy. The man who hopes to unseat Wellstone in next fall's US Senate race --St. Paul mayor Norm Coleman-- will also visit outstate Minnesota today. Coleman is travelling to five cities to publicize the Charlie Brown exhibits in St. Paul. Professor Steven Schier is the chair of the Political Science Department at Carleton College. August 22, 2001 - St. Paul Mayor Norm Coleman kicked off a five-city fly-around today (WEDNESDAY) in Rochester as part of a campaign to promote tourism in the capital city. Coleman is widely expected to challenge DFL incumbent Paul Wellstone for a seat in the U.S. Senate in 2002, and today's excursion could be perceived as an early warm up for the race ahead. Minnesota Public Radio's Erin Galbally has this report.
August 23, 2001 - One of the new exhibits at the State Fair is the Miracle of Birth Center. Eight cows, 12 sows, and 16 ewes are set to give birth, while fairgoers watch. It's a kind of animal maternity ward. Dr. Mary Olson, a vet, says timing the births to coincide with the fair is a little tricky.

August 23, 2001 - MPR’s Andrew Haeg explores new things at the Minnesota State Fair. New additions include Robot Combat, a new sky ride, and Miracle Birth Center. On the fair food front, mainstays such as mini-doughnuts now must contend with introduction of the deep-fried candy bar.
