July 10, 2001 - MPR's Stephanie Hemphill presents a profile of Sam Solon, state senator from Duluth. He has represented the Duluth area in the state Legislature for 30 years, and has been successful in bringing state resources to his district for a variety of economic development projects. He now faces a personal fight…battling cancer.
July 10, 2001 - Ron Bosrock, founder and executive director of the Global Institute at St. John's University in Collegeville, comments on Governor Ventura's fourth international trade mission since taking office.
July 12, 2001 - Governor Jesse Ventura's trade trip to Canada is in full swing. Yesterday, the governor met with business leaders in Toronto, and was a guest speaker at the COMDEX Canada technology convention. Later today, he'll be the keynote speaker at the Toronto Board of Trade, where he'll talk about his role in promoting Minnesota business and tourism. Jennifer Wells, a reporter and a business columnist for the Toronto Star newspaper, provides commentary.
July 25, 2001 - INTRO-- Governor Jesse Ventura will be among the speakers later today at a rural summit in Duluth. More than one-thousand delegates are at the summit to discuss ways to stregthen and build rural communities. For the past two days, they've been convering topics like diversity in rural Minnesota and rural poverty. This afternoon, the topic will be rural development policy. Colleen Landkamer (LAND cam er) will speak at that session. Landkamer is a Blue Earth County Commissioner, and a representative to the National Association of Counties.
July 25, 2001 - This week in Duluth, local government officials, university extension agents, and others working on development in rural areas of the world have been meeting and exchanging ideas. This afternoon they heard from Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura. Minnesota Public Radio's Stephanie Hemphill reports.
July 31, 2001 - Secretary of State Mary Kiffmeyer is praising a new report by the National Federal Election Commission. The report recommends a number of election reforms, including turning election day into a national holiday and implementing uniform voting procedures within each state. Former Presidents Ford and Carter, who led the commission, hope their recommendations will help avoid a repeat of last year's bitterly contested vote-count. Kiffmeyer says she can't find anything in the report she doesn't like:

August 14, 2001 - MPR’s Gary Eichten talks with Walter Mondale, former Vice President, U.S. senator and ambassador, about the U.S. role in the world. Topics include the Middle East, globalization, and partnerships. Mondale also answers listener questions.
August 14, 2001 - St. Paul mayor Norm Coleman will deliver his final budget address later today. His budget will go to the St. Paul City Council where it must be approved by the end of December. After leading the city for nearly eight years, Coleman has decided NOT to seek re-election. He will instead run in next year's Senate race in an attempt to unseat DFLer Paul Wellstone. Mayor Coleman is on the line now. that's St. Paul Mayor Norm Coleman, who will deliver his final budget address today at 3:00.
