September 27, 2000 - Mainstreet Radio's Tim Post reports that Governor Jesse Ventura spent the day in St Cloud, talking with students at St. Cloud Tech High School about the importance of voting. Ventura says it's part of his effort to increase turn out at the polls this November. He will also raise money for the Independence Party's U.S. Senate candidate, Jim Gibson.
October 3, 2000 - ** Note host outcue ** A new poll conducted for MPR, the Pioneer Press and KARE-TV finds a mixed reaction to Governor Ventura's proposal to have the state pick up a bigger share of education funding. Voters were divided on the issue, and also split on whether the state should expand the sales tax in order to lower property taxes. Minnesota Public Radio's Laura McCallum reports...

October 4, 2000 - Governor Jesse Ventura unveiled his latest attempt to get young people to the polls today.... a video parody of the popular movie "The Matrix." In the five minute video, Ventura stars as the leader of a futuristic rebel group trying to convince a young college student that he can change the world IF he exercises his right to vote. The video, which will be shown across Minnesota college campuses this fall is a production of the Dudley Riggs' Brave New Workshop. Script-writer Jeff Hopkins says the college student in the video is modeled after Keanu Reeve's character in the movie, NEO.
October 13, 2000 - Hundreds of mourners came to St. Paul to pay a final tribute to Bruce Vento, who passed away on October 10th, 2000. The former school teacher and twelve-term Congressman was hailed as a champion of the environment, the working class, and the needy. Vento died at the age of 60 from a rare form of lung cancer, as a result of exposure to asbestos.
November 1, 2000 - The three leading candidates for the U-S Senate in Minnesota divide sharply over some environmental issues; but sound remarkably similar on others. There are clear divisions on what to do about oil exploration and global warming But the differences get cloudy over logging, mining, and motorized recreation. November 2, 2000 - (NOTE: Host outcue.) A new poll suggests Minnesota will elect a woman to Congress for the first time in more than forty years. The survey -- commissioned by Minnesota Public Radio, the St. Paul Pioneer Press, and KARE-11 T-V -- shows D-F-Ler Betty McCollum leading Republican Linda Runbeck in the Fourth District race. Independence Party candidate Tom Foley is following in third place. Minnesota Public Radio's Michael Khoo has more.
