June 25, 1999 - Governor Jesse Ventura is back in Minnesota today after a two-day trip to the nation's capitol, where he tried to raise awareness about the problems facing farmers. Ventura met with Clinton administration officials and members of Congress. And he told Minnesota Public Radio critics of his high-profile style should take note of the attention he was able to garner as he lobbied on behalf of farmers.
June 28, 1999 - Three Twin-Cities-based charities have received donations from "Ventura for Minnesota, Inc.," the private non-profit that collects royalties and licensing fees for official Jesse Ventura merchandise. "V.M.I." says the $15 thousand dollars it donated today is just the first installment of its contributions to local causes, and it says it will keep donating money as long as people are willing to buy Ventura souvenirs.
June 29, 1999 - Governor Jesse Ventura says Minnesotans can expect proposals for major tax reform from his administration's next budget in two years. Ventura says government is too large and taxes are too complicated. He says his challenge will be determining where to make cuts.
June 30, 1999 - Governor Ventura wants the Reform Party to distance itself from its founder, Texas billionaire Ross Perot... and Ventura is weighing in on internal party politics to help make that happen.
July 2, 1999 - Minnesota Twins officials have thrown their support behind St. Paul efforts to build the team a new ballpark. Mayor Norm Coleman had said he needed a commitment from the team before he asked St. Paul voters approve a .5% sales tax increase to pay for the project.
July 2, 1999 - First Lady Terry Ventura took over as host of Governor Ventura's weekly radio show today. The talk radio rookie dedicated about half of her debut to discussing stress-management with an chiroprator, then moved on to the farm crisis.
July 2, 1999 - Later today, Mayor Norm Coleman will submit more than 10-thousand signatures to place his proposal for a St. Paul ballpark on the ballot this fall. That strategy is likely to coincide with a public relations campaign to keep the Twins in Minneapolis . And if those two proposals aren't confusing enough, the Minnesota Vikings are voicing stadium ambitions of their own.
July 6, 1999 - Governor Ventura today signed extradition papers for the Saint Paul woman authorities believe is Kathleen Soliah, a former Symbionese Liberation Army member charged with conspiracy to murder police officers in California. Her attorney says he won't fight extradition, and his client hopes the matter will be resolved quickly in California.
July 12, 1999 - Governor Ventura plans to climb back into the wrestling ring next month. The World Wrestling Federation today announced it has recruited Ventura for a pay-per-view "extravaganza" in August -- but the WWF and the Governor are being secretive about what his appearance will entail.
