October 1, 2024 - An APM Special Coverage presentation of the documentary, The Breakthrough of ’48: When Civil Rights Won the White House. Based on veteran journalist Samuel Freedman’s celebrated book, Into the Bright Sunshine, this documentary uses first-person interviews and compelling archival audio to resurrect a pivotal moment in American history that remains relevant and revealing today.
January 24, 2025 - MPR’s Dan Kraker profiles the Duluth hockey team ‘Motherpuckers,’ which teaches beginner hockey for women, nonbinary, and transgender people.
March 13, 2025 - With the marking of the fifth anniversary of the COVID pandemic, The Minnesota Now team spent a month going out across the state and asking listeners and readers to share their story and experiences from that dramatic period in our collective recent history.
April 7, 2025 - MPR’s Cari Spencer talks with Davis Moturi, a Minneapolis Black resident who was harassed and injured in a racially motivated shooting by John Sawchak, a white neighbor. Despite repeatedly contacting police about the harassment and threats, Moturi is dismayed and angry at the lack of action taken by police until after shooting transpired.
October 30, 2025 - MPR’s Tadeo Ruiz Sandoval reports that as milk prices dropped, a family dairy farm in the town of Corcoran has put their cows out to cuddle…thus, Curious Cows and Company was born. For $25, anyone can spend 30 minutes with their calves, brushing their coats and feeding them hay.
November 10, 2025 - MPR’s Dan Kraker reports that fifty years after the sinking of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, the loss of a ship known as the “Titanic” of the Great Lakes remains one of the most famous shipwrecks in history. Kraker takes a look at what is known…and what questions remain.
