May 27, 1986 - MPR’s Kate Moos talks with St. Paul’s Ann Bancroft about her expedition to the South Pole. Bancroft recounts the challenges of being in the Arctic.
May 31, 1986 - MPR’s Mark Steil presents "Chanarambie Township: Sections 17, 18, 19, and 20," a documentary that explores how farmers in a four-square mile area of Murray County view the farm crisis...where land prices dropped, interest rates went up, and farmers were caught in the middle.
October 3, 1986 - MPR’s Tom Meersman presents a five-part series “People Without Countries,” a collection of reports about life in Thailand refugee camps.
January 2, 1987 - Midday presents the Public Policy Unit documentary "Dropouts: Falling off the Bottom Rung." MPR’s Stephen Smith, Bill Catlin, and Dan Olson create a collaborative report on Minnesota high school dropouts.
May 1, 1987 - MPR’s Jim Meumann reports on protests against Chippewa tribe spearfishing at Butternut Lake in Wisconsin.
May 10, 1987 - Midday presents the documentary “Williams Pipeline Under Fire: The South Dakota Story,” which looks into gasoline leaks and spills, as well as information about other unsafe and possibly illegal activities at Williams Pipeline Companies Sioux Falls, South Dakota terminal.
May 11, 1987 - MPR’s William Wilcoxen profiles the “Minnesota Celebrates Lindbergh” celebration, in honor of the 60th anniversary of Charles Lindbergh’s transcontinental flight. Features includes interviews from Little Falls.
June 20, 1987 - MPR’s Mark Hesitad talks with organist Karl Eilers about playing the Mighty Wurlitzer at World Theater. Segment includes Eilers performing examples of music set to film.
July 3, 1987 - MPR’s Jim Bickal profiles how, despite its popularity, Spam has received little respect in the last 50 years. Report provides humorous commentary about the meat product, including an excerpt of the obligatory Monthy Python song.
July 14, 1987 - MPR’s Stephen Smith profiles street preachers outside Caboose bar in Minneapolis. Smith interviews street preacher Shirley Reed, and various bar patrons.
