October 3, 1991 - Franklin Thomas, president of the Ford Foundation, speaking at Minnesota Meeting. Thomas’s address was titled "Drugs, Poverty and Crime: Why the Inner City is in All Our Backyards." After speech, Thomas answered audience questions. Ed Spencer, chairman of the board of the Ford Foundation and a board member of the Minnesota Meeting, introduced Thomas. Minnesota Meeting is a non-profit corporation which hosts a wide range of public speakers. It is managed by the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
October 9, 1991 - MPR’s Bill Wareham breaks down Game 1 of the American League Championship Series, in which the Minnesota Twins outlasted the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4.
October 11, 1991 - Minnesota sports commentator Howard Sinker looks at what’s ahead for Game 3 of 1991 American League Championship Series. The Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays are tied 1-1 in the series.
October 12, 1991 - Garrison Keillor reads from his new novel, "WLT: A Radio Romance," and talks about the new season for the American Radio Company, and answers listener questions.
October 14, 1991 - MPR’s Bill Wareham reports on Minnesota Twins winning American League pennant, beating the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 5 of American League Championship Series. The Minnesota Twins now go onto the 1991 World Series and face the winner of National League Championship Series.
October 15, 1991 - U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone comments on the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings of Judge Clarence Thomas. Wellstone shares his concerns of the treatment of witness Anita Hill and discusses the topic of sexual harassment.
October 15, 1991 - U.S. Senator Dave Durenberger comments on the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings of Judge Clarence Thomas. Durenberger shares his belief that Thomas will come into the role as a U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice and discusses Hill testimony.
