June 14, 1981 - Proceedings of the United States Senate Field Hearing and High Sulfur Coal Export Conference held June 8–9, 1981, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. This program is on the topic of “Emergency Utilization of Coal,” one of a several items addressed at conference. Panel discussions were moderated by U.S. Senator Charles Percy, U.S. Representative Paul Simon, and John Castle, director of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs.
June 15, 1981 - MPR’s Lee Axdahl reports from Roseville, where a tornado struck the afternoon of June 14, 1981. Storm caused multiple damage and injuries.
June 15, 1981 - MPR’s Dale Connelly interviews Peggy Hawkins, who witnessed the tornado that struck Roseville. Hawkins was in the parking lot of Target as storm struck, and describes a destructive scene.

June 15, 1981 - MPR’s Linda Peinovich interviews meteorologist John Graff, who describes the path and destruction of tornado that struck areas of Twin Cities on June 14, 1981. Graff notes it was a singular tornado that made a straight line through the metro.

June 18, 1981 - MPR’s Tom Meersman reports on lawsuits before the District Court of Appeals. The State of Minnesota case argues that the 1978 BWCA Wilderness Act gives the federal government too much power over waterways. Numerous landowner cases argue various property and land rights issues.

June 19, 1981 - All Things Considered’s Gary Eichten and MPR reporter Dick Daly discuss the impact of letter written by St. Cloud student Donna Gallus to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart. The letter asked why Justice Stewart was still on the court after so many years. Connected or not, Justice Stewart retired shortly after.
