January 2, 1996 - Minnesota's sixteen thousand federal workers get their December paychecks this week, and most of them aren't happy about it. Because of the current impasse over the federal budget, most of them aren't being paid for the final two weeks of December.

January 4, 1996 - A Suspended Minneapolis police officer is asking a Hennepin County Judge to re-instate him to ACTIVE duty pending the outcome of an investigation by the Department's internal affairs department and an independent investigator hired by the Chief.
January 4, 1996 - Today in Saint Cloud, stakeholders in the debate over Minnesota's wetland protection law will convene for a two day meeting called by Governor Arne Carlson. It's an attempt to get both sides to resolve their differences and come up with a workable reform plan. Pressure to overhaul the law has been building, especially in rural Minnesota. Efforts to pass a reform bill failed last year, and all sides are hoping that won't happen again in this legislative session.
