November 13, 1989 - Earl Craig, Walt Dziedzic While a sergeant, Mike Sauro led the 1989 mistaken raid on the home of an elderly couple who were killed in a fire set off by the officers' use of a "flash bang" grenade - an incident that reinforced distrust of the police in the black community and led to the creation of the Civilian Police Review Authority (CRA). The victims were Lillian Weiss and Lloyd Smalley.
November 14, 1989 - MPR’s Chris Roberts profiles basketball star, Janet Karvonen, who has been inducted into the Minnesota Sports Hall of Fame and has a local legacy within Minnesota. She is the first women to be inducted into the hall, and at the time, was the youngest inductee as well.
