MPR Journal was a daily half-hour regional news program, hosted by Gary Eichten, airing from 1984 until 1991. The program was initially titled Minnesota Journal, but in early 1985 changed to MPR Journal.

Report includes excerpt of Keith Ellison speaking at meeting. Also contains comments from John Laux, Minneapolis Police chief and North Minneapolis resident Cozelle Breedlove.
March 16, 1989 - MPR’s Karen Boros interviews vexillologist Father William Becker about the history and many versions of the Minnesota State flag since its first appearance in an exhibition at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. Becker is asking the Minnesota legislature to consider changing the flag design again…and is providing an option.
May 18, 1989 - MPR Journal’s Gary Eichten chats with with Garrison Keillor about his new program in New York, which will include monologue, music, and sketches. Keillor explains the difference of new endeavor to his well-known A Prairie Home Companion program.
May 31, 1989 - MPR Journal’s Gary Eichten interviews former Major League Baseball power hitter Don Baylor about the struggling Twins and his recollections as a member of Twins team during the 1987 championship season.
June 5, 1989 - House Speaker Bob Vanasek shares his frustration with Governor Rudy Perpich’s attitude in the tax bill. Vanasek feels the governor has had ample chance to act regarding tax reform and that delay is unnecessary.
June 21, 1989 - MPR’s Kate Smith reports on a Minnesota Twins try-out camp being held at the Metrodome. 30 young players show their talents in hopes of catching the eye of Jerry Bell, director of Scouting for the Twins organization.
August 9, 1989 - MPR’s Kate Smith reports on Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium, also known as MECC, which is being placed up for sale by the state. The corporation has helped Minnesota schools with software at cost, but legislators are looking to sell the company.
