MPR archive presents an audio sampling of Minnesotan Jim Klobuchar over the years. As an American journalist, author, and newspaper columnist, Klobuchar was well-regarded in his long career working for a variety of local newspapers. He was also well-known for his love of sports.
James John Klobuchar was born on April 9, 1928, in Ely, Minnesota. He attended University of Minnesota and served in the United States Army before starting his long career in journalism. Klobuchar notably was the first reporter in the country to declare John F. Kennedy's victory over Richard Nixon in the 1960 United States presidential election.
Klobuchar was the father of Minnesota U.S. Senator and former Hennepin County attorney Amy Klobuchar.
Jim Klobucar passed away on May 12, 2021.
