Amy Jean Klobuchar is an American Democrat politician and lawyer, who is currently representing Minnesota in the United States Senate.
Born May 25th, 1960 in Plymouth, Minnesota, Klobuchar first foray into politics was advocating to the Minnesota Legislature on a bill that would guarantee new mothers a 48-hour hospital stay. She later became Hennepin County attorney from 1999 to 2007. Klobuchar was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006, becoming Minnesota's first elected female United States senator, and since reelected in 2012 and 2018. Klobuchar sought the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination from February 2019 to May 2020.
January 11, 2010 - MPR’s Steven John interviews U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar about China’s use of cadmium in children's items. The chair of the Consumer Product Safety Commission is warning Asian manufacturers against the use of cadmium in children's items. That's after lab tests found that Chinese manufacturers were substituting the heavy metal in place of lead in cheap charm bracelets and pendants being sold in this country. Cadmium is known to cause cancer, and, like lead, it can hinder brain development in the children. Senator Amy Klobuchar led the fight to ban lead from toys manufactured in China. She's traveling in southern Minnesota today and we caught up with her.

April 1, 2013 - MPR’s Jess Mador reports that Minnesota lawmakers Tim Walz and Amy Klobuchar are pushing legislation they say will help thousands of military veterans who were wrongly denied Veterans Administration benefits. They say thousands of veterans who may have had post-traumatic stress disorder were wrongly diagnosed.
