On this MPR News with Tom Weber program, Ken Merryman discusses hunting for shipwrecks in the Great Lakes. Merryman and others discovered the Antelope, a Great Lakes steamship, that sank in Lake Superior in 1897.
More than 8,000+ shipwrecks have taken place in the Great Lakes region; about 350 of them located in Lake Superior. Of those, about 50 wrecks are presumed to be within Minnesota waters. Many wrecks have been located, but at least half rest on lake bed undiscovered.
