MPR’s Marianne Combs reports on Penumbra’s Summer Institute which focuses on social justice and activism.

St. Paul's Penumbra Theatre is known for being one of the premiere Black American theaters in the country. Less well known is its summer youth program, which teaches teenagers not just about acting and directing, but about race, class and other pressing social justice issues.

Combs interviews Sarah Bellamy, Penumbra co-artistic director; H. Adam Harris, Summer Institute director; Lauren Wilson, Xcel Energy grants manager; and students attending program.
