MPR’s Kerri Miller interviews Minnesota writer Louise Erdrich about The Guthrie Theater production of Erdrich's novel "The Master Butchers Singing Club." Francesca Zambello, internationally renowned opera and theater director, is also interviewed.

The Guthrie show describes the intersecting lives of a German immigrant and butcher and a sideshow performer as they settle into the small town of Argus, North Dakota.

Erdrich’s novel "The Plague of Doves" was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in fiction. Francesca Zambello directs "The Master Butchers Singing Club" at the Guthrie.
