A St. Paul soldier is among the 13 people killed at Fort Hood, Texas, yesterday. Kham Xiong was a vehicle mechanic in the Army, and was preparing to ship out early next year. His family said he was waiting to get a physical examination at the Texas army base, when he was reportedly gunned down by a military psychiatrist in yesterday's deadly shootings. His brother, Robert, said Kham had followed his younger brother Nelson's footsteps into the military. Nelson Xiong is a Marine serviing in Afghanistan. Robert Xiong said Kham had been in the service only a few months, and was living in Texas with his family.
