SPEAKER 1: I think that he has what every great leader needs, which is ability and humility to reach out and pull people together after they've won. You have to be a good leader-- I mean, a good winner.

[CHATTER]

Well, for me, it is a tremendous moment. It means that this truly is the land of opportunity. It's proof of it. It's evidence of it. It's something that we all knew deeply buried in the fabric of America is that everybody's talents are worthy of regard. And that America needs the talents of all people. And yet, historically, that we haven't utilized the talents of all people. But today, that has been smashed. And we know that any little kid grow up in America can be president one day.

Well, he's already said, in his acceptance speech, that it's going to be tough. We don't know if we can do it all in one term or much less one year. So I think he's already trying to dampen wild expectations. And I think he's right to do so. I mean, the burden on his shoulders is enormous. People's expectations are probably not realistic.

I mean, we're highly overexuberant at this moment. But he is signaling to us that there's been significant damage to the country. I mean, the voters made a decision because they know it. I mean, this financial crisis due to a philosophy based on deregulation and privileges for the people who are most privileged. He knows it's going to take a lot to undo the damage that has been done. And I think he is signaling that it's going to take a while and it's going to take a lot of effort on everyone's part.

[CHATTER]

I don't think people will ever see this election as just another election. This is a historic moment. This is a watershed moment in American history. But I can guarantee you this, Gary, sometime around March, Barack Obama is going to simply be the president. And he's going to have to fight with Congress and fight with the party. And it'll just be back to business as usual. But no one will ever forget this moment.

You bet. Thanks, Gary.
