Five African American police officers with the Minneapolis police department are suing the department and Chief Tim Dolan for race discrimination. The 37-page complaint was filed this morning in federal district court. The complaint alleges that the department has a history of discrimination against black officers and that the situation has gotten worse under Dolan. The officers are being represented by attorneys Andrew Muller and John Klassen. Klassen says all of the officers are decorated, and have served in the department for at least 18 years.
