For the second time in a week, hundreds of Minnesota Hmong rallied at the State Capitol in support of a jailed leader. Vang Pao pleaded not guilty last week in California to federal charges of plotting to overthrow the communist government of Laos. The 77-year-old former general and 10 other defendants each face conspiracy and weapons charges that could mean life in prison, if convicted. Dai Thao of United Hmong Americans for Justice says Vang Pao helped the United States fight communists 30 years ago and deserves better treatment from the government now.
