Alley ordinance Share

A Minneapolis city council member wants to limit use of the city's alleyways in order to fight crime. A proposed ordinance prohibit anyone by residents and their guests to from walking in alleys throughout the city. Utility, garbage and emergency workers would be exempt from the rule, but neighborhood residents would apparently be in violation of the ordinance if they entered alleys on blocks other than their own. A city council committee will review the proposal, offered by 6th Ward Councilman David Lilligren. Inspector Kris Arneson commands the 5th police precinct in Minneapolis and says an officer working the night beat came to her with the idea.
