Desecration resolution

LISTEN:Desecration resolution
00:00--:--

St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman and the city council today urged federal officials to pressure the Thai government to explain Hmong grave desecrations at a refugee camp there. The city resolution calls for action by the Minnesota congressional delegation and the State Department. Many of Minnesota's recent Hmong immigrants lived for decades at the camp where the desecrations occurred. Local Hmong leader Yee Chang says the Thai government has not satisfactorily explained the reason for the desecration or where the remains were taken. He says burial sites are sacred in Hmong culture and the desecrations have been hard on local refugees.
