Hmong business and community leaders say they are shocked and saddened by the killing of six deer hunters in Wisconsin this past weekend. They are particularly upset that the shooting suspect, 36-year-old Chai Vang, is a Hmong man from St. Paul. About 40 Hmong attended a press conference to to condeMinnesota the violence. They also expressed sympathy for the victims and stressed Vang is not typical of Hmong people. Ilene Her is with the Council on Asian-Pacific Minnesotans. She voiced concern over the backlash some Hmong may face as a result of the shooting.
