An interview with Jim Hoolihan, who has been named the new president of The Grand Rapids, Minnesota-based Blandin Foundation. Hoolihan is a business owner and the former mayor of Grand Rapids.

Hiring a native son may be especially important as the foundation tries to move on from a dispute with some community members. They had challenged the foundation over how much money the organization's founder intended to stay in the immediate area. Last fall, a court ruled that 55% of Blandin grant money must stay in Grand Rapids. As one of the only foundations focusing exclusively on rural Minnesota, the ruling will likely affect the level of support other communities receive.

Blandin is a primary funder for Minnesota Public Radio's Mainstreet unit.
