MPR’s Lorna Benson interviews Tony Woodcock, who has been chosen to lead the Minnesota Orchestra as the new president replacing the retiring president, David Hyslop. The orchestra also begins an entirely different movement this fall with a new music director, Osmo Vänskä.
Tony Woodcock had led the Oregon Symphony. Among Woodcock's achievements in Oregon was an outreach program serving communities in rural Oregon. A native of England, Woodcock worked with the Bournemouth Symphony and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic before moving to the US. Woodcock says the decision to move to Minneapolis was simple.
