Financial reports filed today with Federal Elections Commission show the Senate campaigns of DFL-er Paul Wellstone and Republican Norm Coleman had raised nearly $18 million through the end of September. Even without October and early November contributions this year's Senate race has surpassed fundraising in the 2000 race between Rod Grams and Mark Dayton. And going into the home stretch of thecampaign Coleman, for the first time in the campaign, has a lead over Wellstone in campaign cash on hand. Minnesota Public Radio's Mark Zdechlik reports...
