MPR's Andrew Haeg reports on a bill that would limit the governor and other constitutional officers from receiving money for outside work has passed its first major test. The House Governmental Operations Committee approved the bill, and will soon send it to a vote by the full House.

Former Governor Arne Carlson and others testified in favor of the bill, saying Governor Ventura and the state's four other constitutional officers should not seek personal gain from their public position. The Governor, who was not available for comment, has said he will fight such a law in court.
