MPR’s Chris Roberts talks with Andrew Curry, managing partner of Curry, Ferner, Scarpetta and Devries, a fundraising consulting firm in Minneapolis working with non-profits. Curry discusses the many ongoing arts organization capital campaigns.
An expansion announcement by the Walker comes as several major Minnesota arts organizations are either planning or initiating capital expansion programs. There's the Minnesota Orchestra's amphitheater project, the Guthrie's intention to build two new theaters, the Shubert Theater project, the Ordway Theater trying to finish its endowment campaign, there's a new literary building being planned for the Minnesota Center for Book Arts and the Loft in Minneapolis, Penumbra Theatre wants to build a new complex on Selby Avenue in St. Paul, and the Children's Theater also wants to expand. The list sounds enormously lengthy, with the seeming potential to exhaust the generous base of individuals, foundations and corporations who help make these projects happen.
