MPR’s Chris Roberts profiles Native American blues band, Indigenous.
Members of the band Indigenous don't adhere to the latest musical trends. While their peers either play modern rock, swing, hip hop or experiment with electronic music, they play rocking blues. And while most blues performers tend to be white or black, Indigenous is made up of family members from the Nakota Indian tribe in South Dakota. After three albums, the group is poised to make its major label debut, and will perform tonight on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota.
