Ice dams cause an estimated $1 billion damage each year in Minnesota alone. They form when snow melt runs down a roof to make a puddle which freezes underneath the shingles. The results can be expensive leaks and frantic calls to a roofer. Minnesota Oublic Radio's Mary Stucky reports about the myths, legends and cold hard facts of ice dams.
