Odd Jobs: fencer
April 21, 1997 - Roberto Sulbavaro didn't learn how to fence until he was in college. Last fall, the Owatanna native was named the U.S. National Women's Epee coach for the 2000 Olympics. Eppe is a form of fencing, in which duelers use thin swords to attack their opponents on any part of the body. Sulbvaro describes his coaching job as both a pinnacle of his career and an exhausting chore that requires him to be out of the country most of the year. He spoke with MPR intern Sara Goo as part of our Odd Jobs series.
