October 7, 2008 - Midday presents an American RadioWorks documentary titled "What Killed Sergeant Gray?" Sergeant Adam Gray made it home from Iraq only to die in his barracks. Investigating his death, American RadioWorks pieces together a story of soldiers suffering psychological scars – because they abused Iraqi prisoners.
April 1, 2004 - “The Few Who Stayed: Defying Genocide in Rwanda,” an American RadioWorks documentary produced in cooperation with the PBS program FRONTLINE, profiles individuals that resisted the forces of genocide by presents their haunting stories.
November 1, 2003 - The American RadioWorks documentary “Whose Vote Counts” looks at voting issues in the United States. Reports include various viewpoints on the problems and potential solutions.
January 1, 2002 - An American RadioWorks/Minnesota Public Radio/NPR News documentary project titled “Massacre at Cuska,” which looks into a mass killing during Kosovo War and it’s aftermath. In 1999, Serb death squads attacked the Albanian village of Cuska, and within hours, left 41 unarmed civilians dead.
July 6, 2001 - Midday presents the American RadioWorks documentary “The Promise of Justice: Burning the Evidence,” which looks at war crimes in Kosovo. This is the story of a secret and grisly operation by Serbian security forces to destroy evidence of possible war crimes in an industrial furnace in northern Kosovo.
March 10, 1997 - Midday presents two Minnesota Public Radio documentaries by producer Stephen Smith and Michael Montgomery. The first, "Face of Mercy, Face of Hate," is about the life and mysterious death of a Bosnia Serb. The second, "A Plague of Plastic Soldiers," is about efforts to clear land mines in Cambodia.
September 13, 1996 - Midday airs a Minnesota Public Radio documentary about Bosnia, titled "Face of Mercy, Face of Hate." After documentary, MPR's Stephen Smith, who produced piece, will be in the studio to answer listener questions, along with correspondent Michael Montgomery, who is in Sarajevo and contributes via phone.
